Lahore, 18 June 2025 – As part of its continuous commitment to empowering family enterprises, the Islamic Chamber Training Academy (ICTA), in collaboration with Al Baraka Bank (Pakistan) Limited, successfully organized an exclusive lecture titled “Family Business – Sustainability over Generations” at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Lahore.

H.E. Mr. Atif Hanif, President & CEO of Al Baraka Bank Pakistan, opened the keynote discussion by emphasizing the pivotal role of family enterprises in the national economy.

“Family businesses are a cornerstone of Pakistan’s economic growth and global reputation,” he noted. “This event aims to support these businesses in building sustainable ventures that will thrive across future generations.”

The keynote discussion was then led by H.E. Yousef Khalawi, Secretary General of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce & Development — a globally recognized scholar, author, and consultant renowned for his expertise in advising family businesses worldwide. H.E. Yousef shared powerful insights on best practices for intergenerational wealth transfer, governance structures, and fostering innovation while preserving core family values.

“Sustainability in family businesses faces its toughest challenges when transitioning from one generation to the next,” H.E. Yousef stated. “While the first generational shift — typically between siblings — is relatively manageable, the complexities intensify in later stages. Long-term continuity requires visionary planning, investment in education, and strategic empowerment of younger generations. We have launched a comprehensive training program to prepare future leaders of family businesses for the increasingly complex global business environment.”

The event was attended by influential figures from diverse industries, including manufacturing, technology, real estate, retail, and finance. The diverse representation underscored the shared challenges and opportunities family businesses encounter, regardless of sector.

This impactful event marks a significant milestone in the capacity-building efforts led by the Islamic Chamber Training Academy (ICTA), which has globally launched a specialized family business training program. The program is rooted in research-based learning and scientific modules designed to foster the long-term resilience and growth of family enterprises.
